Additional The Ventures' Christmas Album Information
|
Ah, this is jingle bell rock the way it's supposed to be, with driving guitars, splashy drums, and full stereo separation. The Ventures' Christmas Album just might be the best rock & roll holiday record ever made. The instrumental twang kings deliver pretty much what you'd expect--note-for-note renditions of standards, all dressed up with ubiquitous sleigh bells as well as the requisite reverb. What really makes this disc a blast though is the way the quartet weaves 1960s pop signatures into every tune; warping "Woolly Bully" into "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "I Feel Fine" into "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," and so on. Spin this and let your party guests have fun guessing which hit single will morph into a Christmas classic. --Michael Ruby

What Customers Say About The Ventures' Christmas Album:

La verdad lo recomiendo para todos a los que les guste la musica navideña con estilo. Disco antiguo pero con música navideña muy buena y un estilo único.
While both in their 70's Don Wilson & Nokie Edwards still tour. However the Razor & Tie label issue of this CD shows the original Ventures drummer Dewey Johnson, who was NOT on this record & left due to an auto accident early in the groups career. Its 43 years later, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March 2008, the Ventures have been an active touring band for 50 years. Both still play at a high professional level. We saw them live in April 2008 @ Epcot/Disneyworld & they were nothing short of terrific. This is the classic Ventures Xmas album recorded in 1965 on their orignial label Dolton Records. Classic Ventures line up Mel Taylor, drums, Bob Bogle bass, Don Wilson rythmn guitar & the great Nokie Edwards lead guitar.
when i was a child i heard this album all chritmas season. Mi mom love this album, then i love too.
every time i played it, someone would ask what we were listening to. this was everything i expected it to be and then some. great holiday tunes, done in pure Venture style.
Great fun, a must have. Even if you did not grow up with the Ventures, you've heard the music.
